Yellow Badge Donation
Every spring, Sompo Japan donates Yellow Badges that come with traffic accident insurance to first-grade students
just entering elementary school in Japan. The aim is to raise students’ awareness of road traffic safety and enlist
cooperation from car drivers and local residents to reduce road traffic accidents.
Started in 1965 following a newspaper article featuring an appeal by a mother who lost her child in a road traffic
accident, the campaign marked its 56th anniversary in 2020.
This program has been conducted jointly with Mizuho
Financial Group, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, and the Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company. The total number of
badges distributed so far reaches to approximately 67.61 million.

Doraemon Road Safety Campaign 2019-2020 in Vietnam
Sompo Japan sponsors and participates in the Doraemon Road Safety Campaign 2019-2020 in Vietnam, organized by Mainichi Newspapers.
With the rising number of motor vehicles in Vietnam, there is a greater risk of traffic accidents. To help ensure the security, health, and wellbeing in society, this campaign teaches elementary school children about road safety, and includes a contest for children all over Vietnam to come up with road safety slogans.
A press conference was held at the Traffic Police Bureau in Hanoi in January 2020 to coincide with the start of the new school year in Vietnam. Participants included the organizers of the road safety slogan contest, as well as the United Insurance Company of Vietnam, a member of our Group, which provides traffic accident insurance for students starting elementary school.
