Yellow Badge Donation

Every spring, Sompo Japan donates Yellow Badges that come with traffic accident insurance to first-grade students
just entering elementary school in Japan. The aim is to raise students’ awareness of road traffic safety and enlist
cooperation from car drivers and local residents to reduce road traffic accidents.
Started in 1965 following a newspaper article featuring an appeal by a mother who lost her child in a road traffic
accident, the campaign marked its 57th anniversary in 2021.
This program has been conducted jointly with Mizuho
Financial Group, Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, and the Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company. The total number of
badges distributed so far reaches to approximately 68.68 million.
