Doula Liability Insurance Program
In February 2013, Sompo Japan started to offer liability insurance for doulas in collaboration with the Japan Doula Association. The insurance program covers the cost of damages in the case where the insured doula (a professional who assists a woman before and just after childbirth) incurs a liability for damages under law as a result of an accident occurring in the course of their work.
In recent years, expectant mothers and mothers with young children have been finding it difficult to receive childcare support from their own family and others. This program was developed based on input from female employees who experienced such difficulties. On December 6, 2019, the Act for the Partial Revision of the Maternal and Child Health Act was announced, which is likely to increase the social demand for doulas. Sompo Japan intends to support such demand through this program. (Number of clients：420 persons (As of April 1, 2023) )
